Opening New Doors
A capital campaign to increase capacity and care in the isolated mountains of the Dominican Republic.
Our Goal
Build a government-approved healthcare facility, open full time and staffed by local medical professionals in partnership with visiting volunteers.
Our Impact
Increase patient capacity twelve fold, with year-round access to high quality medical and dental care.
Why It Matters
The Somos Amigos Difference
We deliver critical, life-sustaining primary medical and dental care to subsistence farmers in the isolated mountains of the Dominican Republic. Patients receive care at no cost. One clinic for both medical and dental care. Management and advisory council from the local community.
The Urgent Need
Despite our success over the last 28 years, there are thousands more in the region who remain underserved.
The Current Challenge
Our model of interval care (open just 4 weeks a year) makes it impossible to serve all those in need. Our current facility does not meet Ministry of Health requirements for a full-time clinic.
